Dedicated to great rides and great friends

Check in before you leave for a ride

If the weather conditions are poor before leaving for the ride, call the Ride Hotline at (847) 348-6112 to check the status before leaving home.

We have a new mailbox at the dealer!

You now have a place to drop off membership forms, yearly dues, pics, etc for the chapter. It is locked so anything you drop in there is secure.

Big shout of thanks out to Kona Chris for the great paint job and Jo for approaching Chris to paint it. If you need custom painting done it looks like Chris is the man.

Without further ado, here's the mailbox.

Welcome to March everyone…the so called winter is just about over and the riding season is just around the corner!!! Time to start thinking about taking your bikeout of mothballs again. I know some of you have been riding throughout this, the mildest winter that I have ever seen in Chicago! Also remember that when you take your bike out of “winter storage” you should make sure to check all the fluid levels and tire pressure, as well as the air suspension (if you have air suspension) before taking the bike out to ensure you experience a good first ride of the season. Also, be extra careful as the cages always seem to forget what motorcycles look like from year to year!!!

I want to welcome all the new HOG members to the club!!! You have decided to participate in a great chapter with an outstanding group of folks that enjoy riding andgathering for events. Participating in chapter meetings and as many rides and events throughout the year will show you the great experience we have had consistently as well as enjoying the “country” roads encountered just outside the driveway of City Limits HD. We, as a chapter, are always looking for additional great ride destinations and/or chapter events to form, so if anyone has any ideas and is interested in planning a ride or event contact any of the chapter officers. If you have an idea for a great ride or event and don’t want to plan it, we can do all the planning and implementing to make it thoroughly enjoyable for the chapter!

I’d like to catch you attention about the Illinois State HOG Rally and let you know that most likely, with the rally based in Rosemont Illinois, will not be this close to home for quite a while!!! I personally know most of the committee planning the rally and know they will have an outstanding event!!! The pretence of the rally is coming together as a whole to “live” the HD motorcycle lifestyle and make new friends, as well as gather with existing friends and have a GREAT time! Remember, only you are responsible for the experience you enjoy!!! Rally registration is available on line NOW!!! Go to the rally website at WWW.ILSTATEHOGRALLY.COM for additional information and to pre-register. There is an additional separate package to experience the Chicagoland Route 66 Raceway. At the raceway, you will have a tour of the facility, and take pictures in the winners circle, and the possibility of a lap or two around the track with a pace-car! The track time has not been 100% secured, at the time of this letter, so I don’t want to mis- lead anyone. Space is limited to the first 600 pre-registered. All this adds a whopping $5.00 to the registration fees…where can you get this kind of value plus a great ride with a great group!!! And where can you get 3 days of fun, great entertainment, great rides, and great camaraderie for $25.00 per person, NO-WHERE!!! Go as a chapter group or go individually but if you haven’t been to a rally, you are in for a big surprise!! If you’ve been to rally’s in the past, this one should exceed any expectations you have.

Keep it in the Wind and Ride Safe

Note from Head Road Captain Stan Borys

World Ends This Year!

I suspect that you know, according to the Mayan Calendar, the world will end December 21, 2012. So….this is clearly the year to do all those great rides you’ve been thinking about but have never done! Get them in this year, because several million people believe that this year will be the end of humanity, and several million people can’t all be wrong!

To get you started, the Chapter has significantly increased the number of rides on the calendar. If there are any rides that are on your bucket list and you’d like some company, let me know and we’ll see if we can get them listed as Chapter rides. There are some that have been rattling around in the back of my head for a while, like a Saddle Sore 1000 Rally (1000 miles in a day…June would be ideal to do the ride all in daylight) or a trip to Burlington, WI on October 31 to see the opening of the Vortex and the joining of two worlds (really…and lunch at the Sci-Fi Café). So put on your thinking caps and let me know….2012 IS YOUR LAST CHANCE!!!

The Road Captain Team for 2012 will do their best to make all these rides happen. We’ve got a great core team together and are meeting periodically to get organized and all singing (don’t be afraid…figurative language only) from the same sheet of music. Like Uncle Sam, we could use a few more good men and women. So, if you’ve thought about being a 2012 Road Captain but were not at last month’s RC meeting, call me or e-mail.
Ride safe!

H.O.G. Mileage Program

Click here for the Mileage Form. Below are the Official Guidelines. Don't forget the form is not valid till you take it to City Limits and get your starting mileage verified.

1. You must enroll EACH motorcycle in the program prior to accumulating miles/kilometers. Mileage accumulated prior to enrollment is not eligible for consideration.

2. Participation is offered exclusively to active H.O.G. members (full, full life, associate, and associate life members).

3. Program covers only Harley-Davidson Motorcycles.

4. Members may enroll in the H.O.G. Mileage Program by completing an enrollment form. Vehicle identification number and current mileage must be indicated on the form at time of enrollment.

5. An additional H.O.G. Mileage Program form must be submitted when a vehicle is sold/traded indicating the ending mileage reading for the old vehicle along with the vehicle identification number and starting mileage of the new vehicle.

6. Passengers are also welcome to participate in the H.O.G. Mileage Program. The passenger must also be an active H.O.G. member, and enrollment is to be documented on the same form as his or her sponsoring rider.

7. Those listed as a "passenger" on a form, but who are also "riders", may submit a separate enrollment form if they would like to accumulate miles as a “rider”. However, mileage accumulated on one vehicle cannot be shared with another rider (i.e., the same mileage cannot be reported twice for two rider awards).

8. Harley-Davidson® Authorized Rentals miles may be credited and by submitting a copy of the contract, which indicates mileage accumulated.

9. Each Mileage Program form must document odometer readings and appropriate vehicle identification numbers for all vehicles used to accumulate required mileage for that particular mileage level. (Kilometers should be indicated for those motorcycles using a kilometer odometer.)

10. All enrollment forms must be endorsed by an authorized Harley-Davidson dealer. Members should send their forms to the address listed on the form.
