Finance Corner


Hi everyone, Tim DeGroot, your chapter Treasurer. I’ve got one of the “behind the scenes” jobs in the chapter, keeping our finances accounted for and balanced to the penny.

Just so you know, our chapter gets its revenue from a number of sources. Membership fees make up the bulk of our money, but we also get revenue from events like the Picnic, our annual holiday party and special events like the Dealer Birthday Party Cookout, which we just recently supported. We also sell those terrific patches that many of you have on your vests and jackets – remember to “check em out” at the next chapter meeting.

Expenses come in a number of ways, everything from underwriting some events to add value to your membership to filing our income taxes every year. We also spend some money to host our web site and print and mail that newsletter you all look forward to receiving. Also, when we have “open” rides or events, we need to get insurance from Harley Davidson to make sure our chapter is covered if an “event” were to occur.

If you have any questions about our chapter’s finances, feel free to send me a note or look me up at the next meeting. I’m usually up at the chapter table with JJ, adding new members, taking renewals and signing all of you up for our next great event.
